I was in a popular internet cafe downtown, i had a very long essay which had to be in the following week and i was behind on my schedule. I found that social networking sites were my biggest weakness as i would constantly browse them and keep in touch with friends other than get on with my work.
Alongside this, i had the even bigger problem of turning off my iPod. I was enthralled by the open wifi the cafe had and took full advantage of watching videos on-line. "Right, time to work..." I though, cracking my knuckles and exiting the internet explorer window.
I opened up a program to allow me to type up my essay and began. I wasn't too sure what to write as it was about web development, an area i wasn't too familiar with. Nonetheless with the aid of a search engine and an FAQs built into the program, i found it generally easy to type up.
7:30. One hour before the cafe shuts and i had time enough to once again browse social networking sites and chat to old acquaintances. I was deep in conversation using the cafes wifi to support my needs when i instantly disconnected. I got up immediately and asked the woman working there, "Excuse me, you wouldn't happen to know why the wifi isn't working would you?". She said that she would go check and she disappeared down the hallway behind the counter and into another room and returned moments later.
"It should be fine if you try it now". I returned to my place in the corner and opened up a program to test it out. It was working and i was relieved to get a final 30 minutes of networking with friends. I continued long after the cafe closed as the woman said i could stay a little longer while she was still working,i have an inkling she liked me after all. Another hour passed and the woman locked up, glanced me a smile and left off down the road. I went back to my apartment and began networking all over again.
